Biochemistry (BCHM)
This American Chemical Society approved curriculum provides a rigorous background in biochemistry with a solid foundation in analytical, organic, and physical chemistry. It is well suited for students who wish to obtain a deep knowledge of the chemistry of life. The curriculum differs from that for BS Chemistry in that it includes biology courses in place of some of the advanced chemistry courses. The curriculum prepares students for professional careers in biochemistry, chemistry, medicinal chemistry, biotechnology, or forensic chemistry. The degree also prepares students to enter advanced degree programs in biochemistry, chemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, genetics, and medically related fields.

CHEM 1030/CHEM 1031 and CHEM 1040/CHEM 1041 sequence can substitute for CHEM 1110/CHEM 1111 and CHEM 1120/CHEM 1121. See advisor for details.
- 2
May take more CHEM 4920 or CHEM 4980 as additional elective hours.
- 3
Students must complete a sequence of EITHER History or Literature to graduate. Please select the second half of EITHER the History or Literature sequence that you began.
- 4
If a second LITERATURE sequence is chosen, this course must be a CORE SOCIAL SCIENCE. If a second HISTORY sequence is chosen, this course must be a CORE HUMANITIES.
- 5
This course must be taken the semester of graduation.
