BA Chemistry (CHMA): Forensics Track
The BA Chemistry (CHMA) curriculum provides a strong background in chemistry while allowing students to specialize in areas of interest. For the Forensics Track within CHMA, the courses prescribed emerged from discussions with professionals in the field (e.g., Alabama Department of Forensic Science [ADFS]). Within a solid background in the fundamentals of chemistry, robust knowledge of analytical chemistry, instrumental analysis, etc. are particularly valuable. The Forensic Track includes these emphases. The CHMA curriculum also affords the flexibility to choose from a wide variety of professional electives like Criminology (SOCY 3000), Judicial Process (POLI 3320), etc. Finally, the Forensic Track enables students to take Chemistry Internship (CHEM 4920) in their program of study to engage with a facility like the ADFS.
