Journalism — Sports Production Option (JRSP)
Journalism (JRNL) or Sports Production (JRSP)
Students must apply for admission to the JRNL /JRSP major.
Before applying, students must:
- Complete CMJN 2100 with a C or better
- Complete the fundamentals class:
- Complete JRNL 2210 with a “C” or better
- Successfully complete 30 hours of degree-applicable course credits (including transfer, AP, and proficiency credits) and be a student in good standing at the time of the application.
- In a well written a 300-word essay, free of spelling and grammar errors, explain how the Journalism program fits with your academic and professional goal.
- Students who transfer to Auburn University may apply to the JRNL major but must complete one semester at Auburn University before applying for admission.

Students are required to complete a two-course history sequence or a two-course literature sequence. They are also required to complete one Core History or Core Literature in the discipline not selected as the sequence.

Students should meet with their advisers about appropriate courses from Groups 1, 2 and 3.

Electives must be selected from courses outside the School of Communication and Journalism. Students must see their advisers for appropriate electives.
