A “C or better” in the prerequisite ENVD 2100 is required to enroll in this course.
ENVD 3200 NATURAL AND BUILT SYSTEMS 2 (3) SEM. 2.5. Pr. ENVD 2100. Coreq. ENVD 3000. An active-learning course that examines the built environment as an interrelated set of technical, material, and social systems that shape spatial, ecological, and civic outcomes. A “C or better” in the prerequisite ENVD 2100 is required to enroll in this course.
ENVD 3300 CIVIC FUTURES 2: DESIGN REPRESENTATION + COMMUNICATION (3) SEM. 2.5. Pr. ENVD 2100. Coreq. ENVD 3100. An active-learning course that focuses on designrepresentation as a means of communicating ideas across physical, digital, and civic or cultural contexts. Students explore drawing, modeling, visualization, and narrative techniques through lectures and exercises that test emerging and hybrid methods. These investigations culminate in a comprehensive representational project that supports and communicates work developed in the co-requisite course. A “C or better” in the prerequisite ENVD 2100 is required to enroll in this course.
ENVD 4000 ELEMENTS OF URBAN DESIGN (3) LEC. 3. Pr. ENVD 2100 or ARCH 2010 or LAND 2110. ENVD 4000 provides environmental design students with an introduction to urban design theories, methods and processes through combination of lectures and on-site instruction.
ENVD 4010 DIGITAL + MATERIAL PROTOTYPING (3) LEC. 3. Pr. ENVD 2100. A hybrid active-learning course aimed at building confidence in design skills via iterative mock-ups, phototyping, and hands-on projects. A range of skills are refined and demonstrated: hybrid digital/physical workflow integration, critical design analysis and close observation, design research, and visual/oral presentation skills serving as foundational principles within this course's structure.
ENVD 4017 HONORS DIGITAL + MATERIAL PROTOTYPING (3) LEC. 3. Pr. ENVD 2100. A hybrid active-learning course aimed at building confidence in design skills via iterative mock-ups, prototyping, and hands-on projects. A range of skills are refined and demonstrated: hybrid digital/physical workflow integration, critical design analysis and close observation, design research, and visual/oral presentation skills serving as foundational principles within this course’s structure.
ENVD 4100 DESIGN CAPSTONE WORKSHOP (6) LEC. 6. Pr. ENVD 3000 and ENVD 3100 and ENVD 3200 and ENVD 3300 and ENVD 4010 and ENVD 4500.
