SCMH 1010 CONCEPTS OF SCIENCE (4) LEC. 3. LAB. 2. Interdisciplinary course which presents major scientific concepts in physical and biological sciences. After taking SCMH 1010, students can complete core science requirement series by taking BIOL 1010, CHEM 1010, GEOL 1100, PHYS 1000, or PHYS 1150. Science Core. May count either SCMH 1010 or SCHM 1013 or SCHM 1017.
SCMH 1017 HONORS CONCEPTS OF SCIENCE (4) LEC. 3. LAB. 2. Pr. Honors College. Interdisciplinary course for Honors students which presents major scientific concepts in physical and biological sciences. After taking SCMH 1017, students can complete core science requirement series by taking BIOL 1010, CHEM 1010, GEOL 1100, GEOL 1107, PHYS 1000, or PHYS 1150. Science core. Credit will not be given for both SCMH 1017 and SCMH 1010.

SCMH 3010 INQUIRY EXPERIENCES FOR SCIENCE TEACHERS (3) LEC. 2. LAB. 2, LLB. 0. This course introduces students to the nature and process of science through project-based instruction. It highlights experimental design, data analysis, and presenting scientific work both orally and in writing. This is a writing enriched course in the required AUTeach course sequence.
SCMH 3050 SERVICE-LEARNING EXPERIENCES IN UNDERSERVED POPULATIONS (3) LEC/PRA. 2. Service learning with a focus on underserved populations. Students engage in experiential learning to meet community needs, enhancing their cultural competence and civic responsibility. Ideal for those in helping professions, STEM, and Pre-Health, it strengthens community partnerships and understanding of complex social issues. Departmental approval required.
SCMH 3810 PRE-PHYSICAL THERAPY PRACTICUM (1) PRA. 2. SU. Departmental approval. Direct observation of physical therapists at an approved facility in the Auburn-Opelika area.
SCMH 3890 PRE-MEDICAL PRECEPTORSHIP (1) LAB. 2. SU. Departmental approval. Direct observation and interaction with physicians at East Medical Center and in individual medical offices.
SCMH 3950 SEMINAR ON MCAT AND DAT SCIENTIFIC FOUNDATIONS (2) LEC. 2. SU. Pr. SCMH 1890 and BIOL 1030 and CHEM 2070. A deep dive into the foundational scientific concepts required for the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) and the Dental Admission Test (DAT). The course emphasizes interactive discussions and practice of the core science subjects pertinent to the tests, supplemented by problem-solving sessions and mock exams to ensure comprehensive preparation. Department approval.

SCMH 8150 DOCTORAL SEMINAR ON CURRENT TOPICS IN SCM RESEARCH (3) LEC. 3. The class is a rigorous, seminar style course on Current Topics in SCM Research. Each class will familiarize you with the key insights in a current research topic (i.e., the “hot topics”) in the SCM area. The instructor has chosen to cover a broad range of active research to give you an overview of topics that people are working on currently and are likely to work on in the future.
